Episode 14 - The Lessons of Mel Tappan

On today's episode of the CCW Podcast, we discuss the wisdom of the late Mel Tappan and his notable book "Survival Guns". Though originally written in the 1970's, Tappan's book contains many valuable insights for today's modern student of armed self-defense. Join us as we cover Tappan's theories on necessary skills, mental preparation, and how to hit the bad guy with enough force to stop them before they hit you. As always, thanks for listening and stay tuned! Semper Portare!

The two other books we mention in the podcast are "No Second Place Winner" by Bill Jordan as well as "Principles of Personal Defense" by Jeff Cooper. Also noted is the ProArms Podcast, 054 Jeff Hall and The Firefight at Manley Hot Springs, which can be found here. Jeff Hall quotes John Bernard "J.B." Books (John Wayne's character in "The Shootist") at around the 44 minute mark while summing up his personal gunfight experience and the mental preparedness it requires.

We're back! We've got a lot to talk about! The Smith & Wesson Subcompact Pro Series 1911 came back from the factory fully repaired! Now what? Does Al sell or trade it? Keep it? We talk about what is next. Al takes the Glock 30sf to the range for the first time and it does great! We talk briefly about Dagny's new holsters and what carry ammo Al is using currently. Lastly, Al is hoping that this motto sticks: Semper Portare! Will it? Who knows, but take a listen to see what it all means. Thanks for staying tuned.
