Episode 17: Land of the Free & Home of the Brave
Happy Independence Day! Today we're covering a variety of home defense subjects.
Gila Hayes' book, Personal Defense for Women, is a great resource for any woman thinking about her own defense, from effectively preventing or avoiding situations that would call for the use of force to finding the right firearm and getting the appropriate training. One consideration we all share for personal defense is defense in the home, and Gila devotes a whole chapter to these various issues, which we dip into here.
Thanks for listening and Semper Portare! Al & Dagny

Episode 14 - The Lessons of Mel Tappan
On today's episode of the CCW Podcast, we discuss the wisdom of the late Mel Tappan and his notable book "Survival Guns". The two other books we mention in the podcast are "No Second Place Winner" by Bill Jordan as well as "Principles of Personal Defense" by Jeff Cooper. Also noted is the ProArms Podcast, 054 Jeff Hall and The Firefight at Manley Hot Springs, which can be found here. Jeff Hall quotes John Bernard "J.B." Books (John Wayne's character in "The Shootist") at around the 44 minute mark while summing up his personal gunfight experience and the mental preparedness it requires.
